Candy Crush Saga Wiki

My proposed rules of Candy Crush Saga Wiki

  • These are my proposed rules of Candy Crush Saga Wiki, most of them are from one of my most edited wiki - Wild Ones Wiki. Feel free to suggest changes! :D

Rules of Candy Crush Saga Wiki:

    Basic rules

    1. Do not post any mild, obscene or inappropriate language; including discriminating, hateful, threatening, racist, sexist, slanderous or homophobic speech or imagery.

    2. Do not post derogatory comments or attacks against other people or groups. No harassing.

    3. Do not post nudity, overtly sexual, copyrighted images or speech, and symbols of hatred of any kind.

    4. Please create new threads in the appropriate forum, and use a descriptive title. Stay on topic unless you want to say something else, go to Off Topic or post it in Trivia section. Thread locations and titles may be changed by the staff (or our co-rollbacks, rollbacks, administrators and bureaucrats) to more accurately reflect the topic being discussed.

    5. Do not make duplicated or nearly identical pages. Spam will not be tolerated. Also, be advised that posting randomly for the sake of raising post count will also not be tolerated. Spam will be deleted. Do not loiter or wander in this wiki.

    6. Do not advertise or promote non-King.com (even King.com is not recommended) sanctioned games, services, referrals, contests, websites or commercial enterprises.

    7. Do not promote illegal or adult 18+ substances or activities: including illicit drugs, prostitution, alcohol, and tobacco. Discussion is permitted only in regards to in-game content, this is the only exception.

    8. Do not post or ask for information about bots, macros, cheats or hacks of Candy Crush Saga Wiki Forum. This also includes links to sites that may indirectly promote such programs. Similarly, talk about your personal use of such items, difficulty of levels or discussion of unreleased content (in other words, content that cannot be obtained by standard means), is also forbidden.

    9. Do not create multiple forum accounts or share your forum account with any other user. Each forum member is allowed only one account.

    10. Do not post a topic which is very bloody and gory because this will make others gross.

    11. NEVER give out your password or any personal information because when the strangers look at it, they may take some action to abduct you.

    12. NEVER give out your home address, hometown, IM name, email adress, other website usernames, your real image, your real and full name, or telephone number because this may cause others to remember and they may call magazine company to make you to the magazines. Some of them might even know where to find you and they can kill you.

    13. NO breaking the law or persuading other people to do so because you will go to jail!

    14. DON'T pretend to be somebody because we will be puzzled, confused and mystified. You don't want somebody to pretend you, do you?

    15. If you like, you can always check with your parents before posting.

    16. Don't post any silly things or gibberish like overusing IPA symbols, emoticons, characters, silly pictures or HTML codes because these can annoy everyone.

    17. Be merry. No one wants anybody to be sad or be provoked, do you? Please be kind and gentle and be joyful all the times. Don't be selfish. Just remember the real joy: Jesus, Others and You. You need to care about everybody but not being selfish.

    18. No racial or any discrimination. Even though someone is weaker than you for thousands of times, no discrimination is allowed. You don't want to be discriminated, do you?

    19. Please use the Candidates for deletion and Candidates of speedy deletion (should be used when it is very severe)</font> if any pages are mistaken, vandalized or contaminated. Please put {{Delete}} tag when it is not too serious and {{Speedydelete}} tag when it is too serious.

    20. Do not put any specific games that is off topic to Candy Crush Saga.

    21. Do not talk about inappropriate things except Off Topic as the Wiki could be visited by anyone even those are not old enough to play Candy Crush Saga or looking in this wiki. If you want to create any off topic things, please contact one of our administrators and bureaucrats or me for requesting.

    22. If you're going to make a debate with someone, make sure it's about in topic not personal attacking. If the contributor is vandalizing this wiki, make sure you talk to him.

    23. If you need to ask us for blocking the person, please ask the staff when the bureaucrats are not here, so that the vandalism will not be as great as possible.

    24. No matter how good they are, edits don't belong to you and may be edited by anyone else.

    25. It's okay if you make a bad edit carelessly, but you might get banned if you do it on purpose.

    26. Only images that depict the character, pets, weapons etc. Bunches of pictures related to the page or location itself are allowed to be placed in the gallery, not images of people related to the character.

    27. We do not accept fan-made artwork except all pages in a category called Category:Fan Fiction or your user page, sandbox pages and profile picture.

    28. Images must be related to Wild Ones. No other stuff in other games or movies etc. unless it is a remarkable one.

    29. Must not delete picture thumbail which is very important to its page.

    30. No repeating or rubbish categories.

    31. Don't post fake information. Please don't post fake information or people will blame us for it. Subjective ones don't count.

    32. No griefing or trolling. Don't troll in pages or we'll block you. You may troll in comments.

    List of levels

    Appealing difficulty

In case if you want to appeal the difficulty, please leave a comment in the corresponding page below, we can follow the message and make suitable actions. Remember - this page is imperfect because we don't know what everyone will think.

    Commenting rules

    • No spam - no spam messages or articles. You'll be asking to be blocked or banned.
    • Inappropriate language must be kept to a minimum - remember that this is a PG rated site. Do not use profanity or swearing for attacking others, you only use it as a non-serious, practical joke to make others laugh. And it at least should be censored in some way (e.g. @$$, f*ck, sh*t, etc.).
    • No off topic - Do not post off topic comments on pages. For example: Don't say "Candy bombs are the worst" in Locked Candies page as it is irrelevant.
    • No inappropriate images - no images of sexual activity or nudity.
    • This isn't Wikipedia - please do not create links to articles that do not exist and do not pertain to Wild Ones. Also, please do not create articles that have nothing to do with Wild Ones.
    • When commenting, put your responses or new comments in the right place - if you are replying to a comment, put your reply on the right comment; when making a new comment, make it a new comment, not a reply to someone else's comment. You can be easily accused of spamming if you don't follow any of these.

    Corresponding pages

List of jelly levels, list of objective levels etc. can be seen in this wiki. Do not edit the difficulty by yourself as you have not consulted anyone. If you do, please feel free to discuss this issue below the comment and leave a link, so we can follow. As we unblock this page because these pages are incomplete, please assume good faith and help us edit.

    Level pages

    Basic information

Basic information can be edited freely and we are welcome to see more information.

    Difficulty details

Do not delete a point unless it is redundant or irrelevant. If you find another difficulty, please add one as a point. A point can help decide whether the level is hard or not.

    Strategy

Feel free to add more strategy as we may not know whether your strategy works or not. We all know that strategy varies in different people. We are welcome to see more strategy.

    Difficulty

The most controversial part is difficulty. Revolution now stops at level 111. Levels 111 or below should be discussed and not to be edited freely. Levels 111 or above can be edited freely but when the revolution starts again, by Wildoneshelper, you have to appeal the difficulty. There will be a 3-day discussion. After that, the most votes will decide the difficulty. Please feel free to appeal in Template talk:Levels or in forums.

    Admins

    Protecting

Never protect a page whenever there is edit disputes. Block them when there are vandalism. Edit dispute should be solved by communication. Blocking them means you are not handling the problem. This also adds anger to the one who does not agree with your edit. Find a way to discuss the issue in a peaceful way.

    Blocking

Blocking is only for blocking people who vandalize the wiki. Blocking people who are activists are an act of suppression. If you find disagreements, please feel free to contact them and compromise.

    Manners

If you find disagreement, always handle it with good manner. Discuss the problem in a good way.

    Promoting

Promote a user when he has a lot of contribution, opinions and even a lot of disagreement with you. Do not give bureaucrat rights to him unless you trust the user for a lot of times. Administrators should be chosen by voting method. Voting period should last for 2 days. Rollbacks should be chosen by bureaucrats alone.

    Other pages

We are welcome to see edits as the wiki is owned by the community. No vandalism should be seen.

    Template:Levels, Template:EpisodesNav, Template:Navbox 2

These navigation templates should be handled with care as any careless or unfamiliar inserted syntax will ruin the whole template. If this happens, we are sorry to revert the edit but we will try our best to review the edit you want to add, remove or simply just edit.

You are responsible for knowing the rules as they are written. These rules are not meant to be all encompassing, and Candy Crush Saga Wiki reserves the right to interpret the rules and moderate the wiki at their own discretion. It is important that you review these rules regularly to ensure you are updated as to any changes. Should you have any questions, please re-read the rules before posting or contact one of the administrators in this wiki. Thank you for your co-operation.

    • Commenting as I'm reading:

      • Many of the first few "don't"s can be combined under one header in a bulleted list, eg:
      Do not:
        • post any mild, obscene or inappropriate language; including discriminating, hateful, threatening, racist, sexist, slanderous or homophobic speech or imagery.
        • post derogatory comments or attacks against other people or groups. No harassing.
        • post nudity, overtly sexual, copyrighted images or speech, and symbols of hatred of any kind.
      • 7, 9, & 10 aren't really needed. Anyway, 9 is covered by Wikia's Terms of Use and can result in a global block. By getting an account, they are already agreeing to those rules, so you don't have to write them again.
      • 11, 12 & 13 are unnecessary. They're covered by Wikia's Terms of Use anyway, even if for some reason they aren't covered by common sense.
      • Also 14, 15, 16, & 17. Also, don't mention religious icons. It just turns people off and is completely unnecessary.
      • Also 18. In fact, many of the rules I've just mentioned could just be combined under a general civility rule. You don't need to point out specifics. Yes, in fact, I recommend getting rid of many of your first few rules in favour of one going something like: "Be civil towards other users. This includes not making offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate posts or edits on this wiki." It's better to keep things vague to prevent loopholes.
      • 19 should be written clearer. If I hadn't been on Wikia for long enough to understand what you were trying to say, I would have no idea. Also, stray </font> tag.
      • On the subject of 20 and 21, I would suggest creating a forum board aimed at off-topic discussion and aiming everyone there. It works well on Doctor Who Answers. The inappropriate subjects part should come under your civility rule.
      • 22 should also be covered by a civility rule.
      • Possible rephrase off 23: "If you see vandals which need to be stopped, contact one of the local admins via their message wall to get them to block the offender. If the wiki has been 2 months without and admin activity, report the vandal to Wikia staff instead, or the VSTF, and they will handle the offender for you."
      • Possible rewording of 25: "It's OK to make editing mistakes. We all do it. However, purposefully spamming the wiki is not allowed. On the other hand, if you see somebody else creating bad edits, assume good-faith before reporting them, and try contacting them via their Message Wall to teach them the correct way of editing before going any further."
      • Combine 26, 27 & 28 as something along the lines of; "Only upload relevant images to this wiki. This can include images directly from the game, such as those of characters, pets, and weapons. Do not upload pictures not directly from the game, including those of its creators and fan art. Unrelated images will be deleted."
      • I don't understand 29.
      • 31 & 32 have already been covered elsewhere.
      • I've said elsewhere that I think you should just remove everything to do with difficulty levels. For the rest of the things under "List of Levels", they have already been covered in the first section.
      • Don't talk about revolution!!!
      • Everything under Admins should be discussed individually in separate threads before attempting to write down any rules about them. Those guidelines should be decided upon by the community in general, and the best way is through separate discussion.
      • "Other Pages" is unnecessary.
      • On the topic of templates: probably best to write the how-to's in a help page and link it from your policies page. If nothing else, it discourages amateur editors from trying to edit above their level and potentially breaking something. Also, is just better layout to have them separate.

In general, the content of your proposed rules is quite good. You just mostly need to cut down on repetition and change the wording a bit on some things. Also, make sure that you have no red links or mentions of Wild One's Wiki where there shouldn't be. If you would like to have a look at another style of policy page, feel free to steal any ideas from Doctor Who Answers. Anyway, good luck, you are moving in the right direction, and just remember that community discussion is key to making the best, most agreed-with policies. This is a process that took us quite literally months on DWA, so don't expect things to move quickly if you want them to move well. But for now, just keep moving forward as you are.

PS, just a recommendation from experience, it can be a good idea to open up a draft policies page which everyone can edit so everyone can contribute to making the final policies page the best it can be, even if only by fixing typos. Making people feel included in the process means that they are more likely to agree with your rules, and gives you a defence if they get angry about one later because you can then say "well, you had your chance to change things, but you missed it." Always good to try and prevent vandals argument loopholes before they form.

      Difficulty

The most controversial part is difficulty. Start a proposal of any levels and give 3 days to respond. Review the comments and change the difficulty, if requested generally, to their requested one. However, if there is no general trend, a poll is requisite. This can make a consensus. How should we define "general trend"? If either side consists more than 70% of all comments, then it is a "general trend". This explains "level 65" has a general trend of downgrading the level to "very hard". There will be a 3-day discussion. After that, the most votes will decide the difficulty. Please feel free to appeal in Template talk:Levels or in forums.

    • I've set up a draft page which all can edit based on your policies list, although changed a bit. It is free for all to edit, and getting everyone to edit it while still in draft stage is encouraged. A few of the policies will need to be discussed individually, and I will open up separate discussions on them. See Candy Crush Saga Wiki:Policies/Draft.
